I love storm season. I love living in Coffs Harbour. The storms and cloud formations are always enjoyable, and this one taken about an hour ago was no exception.

Thanks Mark, the light out there was unbelievable, it would have been just as good for portraits, makes me think I wish I had a Hasselblad or large format camera or similar.

Wow, there is some serious anger in those clouds. It looks like a scene from a sci-fi movie.

BUT, it could do with a bit more contrast to bring out the light and the dark of the clouds a bit more.

Steve, I did adjust levels in PS, but wasn't sure how much adjustment or how "angry" I was to make the clouds.

Nice capture Oz! There is some outstanding light in that capture, I think a little more PP could make it pop a bit more.

I caught a little lightning last night and I'm looking forward to things ramping up in the next couple of months.

Thanks Craig, I had another look at the storm photo you submitted a few weeks ago, an absolute cracker. We had a great storm last night, I have so many photos I don't know where to start processing!!

The photo from last night was only the low res jpeg attached to the RAW, I'm trying to get my mac PS raw plugin to work, when I do I will open the photo in raw and have a play around it.

Not much in the way of surf shots at the moment down the coast, too windy and too wet!

Regards mate,

Max (Fraser)

Hey I distinctly remember some weather a couple of weeks ago.
Wasn't there a sailing boat left in a tree?

But in general I must agree. I go home to BM to experience weather.

 Sorry.
Blue Mountains.
80Km West of Sydney. I thought I had it in my location, hence the abbreviation. Instead I had the actual town (Wentworth Falls). One day I'll learn to use my eyes and/or my memory

No worries Darc, I should have known, I was born at Springwood. To be precise, Nepean District hospital, but my parents lived at Springwood at the time, so I guess that makes me a mountaineer.... :D

Well done Ozimax! Gotta love the Mammatus.....just stunning! It's been a slow start to the storm season, but things are gradually picking up. I'm heading up to Darwin at the end of the week, followed by SE QLD/NE NSW for 2 weeks storm chasing! I'm hoping to capture some great lightning images and some spectacular cloud structure with the beauty of the Aussie landscape below!

Always be on the lookout for decaying storms over the water at sunset...the results can be mind blowing!

Here at Coffs we've had several storms so far this year, I think being right at the intersection of mountains and ocean makes for some interesting weather events. Hope you have some great fun chasing the storms. Cheers.

Sorry to stray off topic Ozimax.....Wayne, I ended up driving to Doncaster Shoppingtown and sat in my car in the carpark with a spectacular view of the storms with lightning flashing overhead and to the east! Fantastic, but pouring rain so I couldn't take pics. Back home, there wasn't even enough rain to wet the ground properly.....

Hey we all get weather - it's just a matter of taking the shots and that is a nice capture of the tail of a storm.
Well done Max. Cheers, Mick :) :) :)

Great shot Max.

I like it even better when converted to B&W and light levels dropped a bit.

Brings out the clouds even more.

Thats me anyway.

Mic
