So I had a little bit of trouble with the security goons and getting my camera into the ground last week. I walked around the ground and got in a different gate (luckily). Bloody security chimps. I had to laught though because the pros sitting in front of me were also getting harrased by the rent-a-chimps. I took a few photos for posterity.

The classic thing was the security guys kept telling the photographers to move (blocking a sponsor sign), but they just ignored them and the guards eventually just went away. I guess they realised they had no real power or something like that. The pros didnt bat an eyelid. To be honest I was hoping for a dust up

I really like the first one... it looks like the photographer is spying into the guard for *something*... hohoho

So, were cameras really allowed or not? To carry in such a large lens, I'd think that it is allowed, but the problem was that they were blocking the sponsor sign? ah! Sad

It doesn't matter how big the lens is or how close he stands. The security guard still has a small "package".

what is the d1 guy using. 200-400vr?

These guys are pro's. They have different rules to the normal chumps and probably have media passes to get in anyway.

That Nikon guy should really invest in a better tripod head.

I think I've seen the Security Grunt in #1 at a couple of other events in Canberra before... and he was a bit of a tool there as well.

The Nikon shooter looks like he's got a D2 series body there from what I can tell.

anyone got any stats on those lenses for me? like brand, zoom or cost?

love to know what they can do...

Mostly Canon 400f2.8 or 500f4's costing retail here around $10k.

wow, that's a lot of clams for anything!...and i was called crazy for spending $1200 on my 12-24!

You bought the lens for pleasure and enjoyment, they bought it as a tool...

Same as buying a Toyota for $30k but you need over $140k to buy a Volvo Bus...

Tho, the Toyota wont earn your money back
