... or alternatively "Bankrupt My Wallet"

These are the first of a particular style I was trying to explore - a product brochure look (... I don't know I succeeded or not :D )

The bike is a BMW R 1200 GS (also on the want list :D )

#1 looks like ones you see on the BMW brochures :)

Ahh, you made me think of something to be done with #2...

A long exposure of the tachometer and rev it up... should look impressive with the lights on!!

Great images, just like a promo brochure. But you did use a great combination there.

These are very good Daniel - especially #1 - you've used a great lens superbly here and proven the high quality of your photographic skills in the process

Yep, you got it.

I feel like I'm back in Münich.

edit: BMW stands for Bavarian Motor Works not Berlin.....

Daniel,

really like number one. If I were BMW, I would probably ask you to clone out the reflection that is just showing. The reflection has the effect of not having the letters consistent.

Second one doesn't do much.

Last one is very nice colours. You got your focus just right here,

well done,

André

All very well done..they definitely would not look out of place in a BMW brochure..was there any complex lighting set-up involved?

Nice, glossy publication look about these pics. You've held the style through all of the pics and that is a skill. Good job!

First one is superb :)

And I must admit, I came to this hoping that it was some shots of VW's :) :) :) LOL

Thanks for comments guys!

The 28-70/2.8 was just at home doing this kind of thing. It's one beautiful lens, and not a regret about the purchase decision.

I thought something similar at the time with the speedo - knocking the bike into gear while it was on the centre stand and getting the speedo cracking a bit... but then thought about it a bit more :D - $25k of bike @ 200KG suddenly dropping the back wheel & getting traction with photog aboard flailing camera and arms about  .

The tacho idea would look pretty sweet if you got the timing and progress right (ie use the needle to build a gradient across the dial)

The lighting was all natural :D
These were all outside around 6pm (pre-DST) just on dusk with a fairly clean horizon (only a few trees, most likely the cause of the small reflection in the BMW logo in #1 as radar points out). Hand held, f/3.2-5 at ISO 200 for all.

Unfortunately this one ain't my bike, but I had oodles of fun when I took it for a squirt around the paddock :D Fantastic machine indeed.

Rel, I'll see what I can do in the way of a dak-dak for next time
Old VW's provide great photographic material, particularly a Karmann Ghia if you stumble upon one!
