Firstly, please accept my apologies for the amount of images in this post. I took approximately 80 keeper shots, however I could only reduce the number of images to the shots you see here. I wanted to keep them as a series of the basic turn of events, otherwise the 'story' doesn't add up. Admin please let me know if this is not acceptable and I will remove them.

Crews from 516a (Chermside Pump), 516k (Chermside ET), 502l (Roma Street TR), 528y (Caboolture 4x4), the QAS, and the EMQ were involved in a Road Accident Rescue exercise to further their skills and to showcase the new Atego ET for Chermside.

Incident involved a car which has collided with a bus. The bus is jacked up for stability and the patient extricated. The patient is then transferred to a waiting helicopter for prompt dispatch to hospital.

Some interesting shots. I'd be tempted to go closer with a wider lens (purely to teach them what it's like with real "dummy-with-camera" in the way, of course). And so they could practice arresting said dummy :)

While I understand the value of training like this, it occurs to me that dozens of people volunteer for this stuff for real every day. But I suppose getting releases from them so you can use untrained staff would be tricky.

thanks moz.

the great thing about these exercises is that I also get to practice my skills at incidents and strengthen the procedures that I have to follow. I treated this as a real incident and therefore couldn't get too much closer.

with this exercise the crews involved are some of the best RAR guys around.. definitely not untrained. with the new truck and a lot of new state of the art equipment it was a great opportunity to watch and learn more.

cheers
