Ummm, may be a silly question, but why is he wearing surgical gloves? To protect himslef from his own supidity??? :?

Shots share the detail well, well captured.

There were four people in the performance, all had hooks inserted into their backs (by a qualified professional), the gloves were worn as everything is sterilised before use for hygiene.
Some of the other images I took are a bit more graphic, but I prefer the look of these.
The image with the subject smoking a ciggy is funny, he was as relaxed as he looked. Apparently little pain is felt as all equipment is surgical steel, not big fish hooks as some may think.
And the reason they do it...... ???

what makes someone a qualified professional to do THAT?

What is the point of using sterilized equipment, when there has been no appropriate surgical skin preparation done?

I have had to sew up people with psychiatric self mutilating disorders, but none after they had put on a show...

They are a qualified team who own and run a peircing studio.
And to correct you, the skin was surgically cleaned before any equipment was used, and again after the equipment was removed.
The people shown do not have mutilating disorders.
I displayed the images for C&C on the photography, not the subjects...!!

Sorry, I didnt mean to have a go at your participants, I certainly didn't intend to suggest that they had mutilating psych disorders either.

The comment abou the skin prep was made due to the fact that the most effective skin preparation agents leave a coloured residue on the skin that wasnt aparent in your shots...

I am sorry that I directed my comments towards anything other than c&c...

It is amazing he can do this, great shots too.

The B&W treatment suits it well, where do I find these people, I have a couple of down right pricks I would like to do this to.

Mic

Great shots Marty - the unusual-ness of them is very appealing. I could never imagine getting hooked on something like this though
