Bronica

I was playing with some lighting tonight using the Metz on a tripod and the SB800 on camera.

I wanted to try to get some kind of 'product shoot' style of photography by washing out the background. The white background was a sheet (unironed!) spread over the floor and raised over the couch.

The Metz was raised, with a diffuser attached, pointing behind the Bronica. The SB800 was bouncing off the sheet to the right (looking from the camera) to try to minimise shadows.

I am posting separately shots of my illy cups, but I would appreciate comments and any feedback on how to improve these kind of shots.

Cheers

I found it difficult balancing depth of field and flash intensity (and I realised I should have blown out the dust from the front of the Bronnies lens).

#1 is significantly better than #2. #2 just seems to lack punch or something, and isn't showing the bronny's best angle.

#1 on the other hand is much better - the light source reflection in the lens multicoat is clean and adds a bit of dimension and colour. The areas to improve (although minor) would be to clean this great bit of gear first! :D...

on a more useful note, I'd like to see the DoF extented slightly to cover the Bronica branding on the prism, and the side panel near the PC flash sync connector fixed up where it's peeling back.

Congrats on the purchase too, I'm envious. One day I'll get myself either a Bronica ETRS or a Hassy 503 (and that X-Pan seems appealing too :) ) There's just something about the whole film shooting experience, winding on and pacing yourself with composition to check that it's just right... but then again I love the instant feedback of a DLSR

For ideas, there's a couple of pools on Flickr with pictures of cameras. I like this and this... oh yeah, a Rollei TLR would be sweet too :)

I prefer #2 as well. Better angle and better DOF

Daniel & Lukaszek, thanks for the feedback - what you said is exactly what I was thinking! Greater DoF, clean the lens.

By the way, my wife has a Rollie TLR... You can buy it for (what is a Mamiya RB67 worth now?)....
