Two LDS Temples

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Two LDS Temples

I've not been here in a while and so thought to re-introduce myself and post two images. The first shot was one I did on my first outing(about 14 months ago, the date on the image should be 2005) with my D70 and the 18-70mm lens. The second was just recently with my D70 and my new Tokina 12-24mm.

I like the second one a lot. Great light both natural and fountain reflectors.

I picked up a tokina 12-24 on ebay yesterday for <$500 delivered - I hope that I can get shots like tha tsecond one... nice work

Nice sky on the first image.... did you use two photos to get the dynamic range?

Thank you all for your comments. Surenj, the first one is a single image but I recently discovered Capture NX. There is a marvelous tool in NX that helps with a blown out sky. It is a free trial on http://www.nikonusa.com. I haven't tinkered with the other features because I'm pretty happy using PSP for my pp work. Critter, I love the 12-24mm. I got mine from Canoga Camera in California for just under $500. The lady that confirmed my order the next day asked why the lens was so popular. All I could tell her was that the reviews (and now the evidence of using it) have been glowing. I do a lot of architectural shots; interior and exterior, and this is by far the best choice in lenses I've made since getting my 70-200mm. And at half the price of Nikon's equivalent. Lukaszek, there were lots of folks around during the magic hour when I was finally able to snap the shot without someone right in front of me. The Temple sits on a bench at the base of the Wasatch Mountain Range and faces west. Perfect light during this hour of day. You've got to be at the ready though, the light changes very quicky and you could miss the shot in the blink of an eye; literally. Thanks again to all.
