50mm 1.4 first impressions

Just picked up a 50mm 1.4 off ebay. Firstly it seems that its pre AIS and therefore im running totally blind, can only use in manual mode with no metering. But thanks to the historgram im getting somewhere. Its taking a lot getting used to manual focus with the little green light. Any tips on manual focus??

All taken with my D50.

I have only run a smart sharpen off these. Straight off the NEF.

Here are 2 shots that I would like to show.

The first is a portraite

2nd is a shot of the top of the baby pram showing some bokeh at 1.4

So what do ya think??

Thanks

Adam

Looks pretty sweet to me - nice bokeh, sharpness is good.

Don't know if I could handle manual focus :)

Thanks Barrie. Lots of wiggling in and out then I get the shot and its a beautiful sounding click. I love the sound of the shutter.

The expression on the girl's face is priceless!

Oh, and a fairly capable lens, too

Cheers
Steffen.

I did run a smart sharp in Photoshop. Not bad for a lense made in 1976.
