Busker on Hindley Street....

Met a friend for tea, were going to watch a movie but missed it haha. Anyhow, took a few snaps through the night but would appreciate C&C on this shot and which one works better.

for me the first one works better, just get a better feel for the environment. I probably would have like more space on the left in the direction he is looking.

#2 - the fact that a person is walking by without looking at the busker (who is staring off into the unkown) adds tremendous power to the shot.

#2 for me as well, although I would have preferred #3 where the guy has already walked past the basker.

No 1 works best for me...I like how the busker is staring left but the predominant space is to the right..gives space to appreciate the mural

I prefer no. 1 as well, good contrast between the distracted busker in dull colour and the bright mural wall behind.
Agree with Phillip though that his suggested #3 would be the best, the second at the moment looks to me almost like 2 separate photos tacked together in the middle. The two subject look like they should have some connection but they don't despite being so close together.

#2 because it's a tighter shot of the subject. I find the mural distracting, either shoot that and minimise the busker more or throw the busker into a dominant position. So 2 works for me.

Great colour and feel to both images. #1 holds an edge(simple yet very effectiveZ) though #2 is terrific too

would you still take the photos if the busker turns to look at you ?
I asked this because you need to be "brave" to do street photographing !
That is something I need to 'learn'

Like both, lean towards #1, empty space with a lot of colour, definitely drawn towards 3:2 image.

haha maybe then you could just wave a hello at him, smile, or toss some shrapnel..
im sure he's more interested in playing to get money than eying off a photographer!
