That first shot is on the money - so close to the action. My only criticism would be that a longer shutter speed may have been nicer to give a nice wheel blur and sense of motion...

Unfortunately where I was I had the camera poking through the fence and due to that I couldn't pan and then shadows where making the cyclists very dark so I had to use my flash. It ws quite a challenge just to get a semi decent pic.
