Went to the Zoo today with some people from a competing web forum...
The big cats were still recovering from yesterday's heat, so I got some reasonable bird shots instead.

And this one is a little unusual, I think. I've never seen inside a croc before.

Daniel, nice work, love the colours in the birds. BTW isn’t that an Alligator? Rounded nose makes me think this is a Alligator rather than a Croc, unless the poor guy has been bashing his snout against the walls of his pen :) :)

Yes he was easier to catch this time as he seemed to be nesting. Taking bits of grass into a tree, always sitting in the same place on the hand rall.

You're probably right. I wasn't sure, so I guessed it was a croc. I'm probably wrong. The more I look at it, the more it looks like an alligator.

All the shots were with the Nikkor 80-400 VR. They were shot wide open (probably f/5.6).

Beautiful images. You've got that 80-400VR singing a sweet song!

I also think it's prolly an Alligator - and let's just hope that's as close as any of us ever gets to seeing inside one!

Actually, no.
One of the good things about being in a Zoo's aviary is the increased number of opportunities. It's more a matter of moving slowly and being on the lookout.

It is my favourite lens. I enjoy using it much more than my other lenses.
