Snapped this photo during winter. The original photo was shot in colour but didn't really do it for me. A bit of PP, primarily changing it to black and white resulted in the following image. The colour version seemed to hide to much of the snow texture and patterns in the clouds.

Wow, I really like it, to me it could be snow or it could almost be desert with a sandstorm coming. Either way the treatment is very well done.

On the main range I take it?

Great shot, although to me the sky is a little too dark. Was that taken on a day trip or camp?

Photo is of Mt Kosciuszko from near the Cootaputumba Lookout. Just a day trip out from thredbo. Snow was old and crusty - good day for a walk but definitely not worth skiing anything.

For this shot to be correctly exposed without using filters the sky will always come out dark (because it is relative to the snow), even more so in the black and white image.

Ahhh, I see! I'm still learning about where and when to use certain filters and what not.

I did my first overnight BC trip at the end of the season this year. Just went out from Guthega and got a couple of turns on the drift where the cornice is and camped there the night. I'm hoping to get out for a couple more trips this year.

i actually really like the dark sky, and i agree with craig, i can easily see it as a desert. love the treatment.
