Mayor of Boulder Beach
Posted: Fri Dec 15, 2006 6:21 pmJust up from the Cape of Good Hope on the eastern (Indian Ocean) coast is a little town called Boulder Beach.
It's famous because of its African penguin colony. Once almost extinct, the little blighters are now doing fabulously well.
On the day we were there, there was a town council meeting, and the Mayor was advising the community that rates were to be increased because the cleaning of the boulders was now such a massive job.
That's him in the foreground in his penguin suit - must have been a formal meeting!
