I know, I know, rats of the sky and all that, but hey, I've only had my D200 a couple of days so anything is fair game :D If it moves (or not) I'll shoot it

Nice shots of a not so nice subject.

I dont really like how the head in the first one disappears into the BG.

Thanks GC, I was shooting straight into the setting sun across water so it was a very bright background. Probably explains the blending in the 1st. I thought the expression on the bird was worth it :D

Did you use any fill flash for these?

No, just straight up no flash. I was actually very surprised at the results.

Mark,

that lens with the D200 is a great combo. A bit of fill flash may have helped but still pretty nice.

I don't mind the first one, as you say, the gull looking right at you is very nice.

I like the second, all lined up like ducks in a row ;)

The blend on the first is a bit distracting but the expression is great...

Nice birdies, now where's me shotgun.LOL Nope good pics of these lil scavengers, but hey i must say when there is nothing else to shoot they make good subjects at times and a few hot chips help as well.
