I think that maybe a lower viewpoint would have helped the composition...by getting down on the same angle as the penguin so that you could see its face properly...the sand looks pink also...was it?

Its a cute bird btw! :)

I agree absolutely. Except that onlookers were confined to a boardwalk built above the level of the sand. The closer the birds came to the viewing platform, the more the angle was emphasised. Really nothing I could do.

And yes, the sand at this beach is a little pinker than our sand. The white point in the pic is on the bird's head.

Nice pic Trevor, given the constraints you had to work with, angle-wise. Is it related to the African Swallow, by any chance? (Sound of coconuts in the distance...)

They're tiny enough!

Maybe they came before swallows on the evolutionary calendar.
