Canon EOS1D Mark II, 24-105/4L at 58mm ISO400 f/8 1/125s.

Been meaning to arrange a meet with two of my friends from primary school a long time ago - they've been interested in photography for a while and both've just gotten hold of some Fuji super zoom almost-SLR cameras so figured I'd take them out to a few spots in town.

Ended up with a few shots myself walking to and from the locations - will share this one up. Extra kudos for the Adelaideans who can pick the spot

Yeah, I cant say why but I like this shot. IMHO it wouldnt be the same without the man and the manhole. Great capture.

A creative image with good control over the composition! The round metal grate on the top right weakens the image for me and I would be tempted to clone it out.I'd also be tempted to darken the top lighter area...but that's just a personal choice. Thanks for posting it!

I love the shot - I can't decide whether I like the manhole or not. I guess it depends what you want us to look at - the manhole keeps drawing my eyes back from the man crossing the road, but if I cover the manhole, my eye isn't drawn away from the X or the man, but the shot seems to be missing something ....

Do you mean the manhole cover on the left??

I think it counterpoints the man crossing on the right.

To the point where I might almost like to see a slighter wider crop of this image, bringing both the manhole cover, and the pedestrian, onto a third line across the upper section of the image.

This image is actually quite deceptive: apart from the obvious lines drawn by the pedestrian crossing, there are also the much more subtle lines of the road surface itself, which not only intersect the crossing, but because the image's angle itself is skewed, also are not crossing the image parallel to the image's edges, thus adding some extra, very subtle, diagonals to the image beyond the obvious ones imposed by the crossing.

You have a really good eye; your shots are always thoughtfully composed.

I like this one a lot. I'm not sure if the manhole bothers me - it does definitely draw your eye but I don't think it matters.

Ok im not from adelaide but i believe this to be the inersection where Rundle mall turns to Rundle St crossing Pultney St

It looks like the Pulteney/Rundle intersection but which building? It feels like it's taken from the Target carpark to me - but I couldn't be sure.

Ronza, nice shot.. Given the length of the shadow this shot was taken late in the afternoon, so the sun is in the west. In Adelaide the streets run north south and east west. The advantage point means you were a few stories high and on the edge of the road, now there are not many intesections where you can walk diagonally across and so that takes out king william street because the buildings on the western side are all too highblocking the sun, so my bet is it is rundle and pultney, taken from the hungry jacks carpark and you have squeezed your lens through the white bars!!! I could be wrong though

I think the perspective (camera pointing down and to the left when facing Pulteney?) feels wrong for the HJs Upark. Hence I'd go for the Target carpark across the street.

Marvin, Xorl - oh so very, very good. Hungry Jacks/Target, 7th floor. A hoodless 24-105 precariously poking through the bars. Got about 60 images, some with more pronounced shadows from the sunset, some with the arrows on Rundle St but the simplicity and angle on this one feels alot "right-er".

Gary - really appreciate the thoughful input as always. Looking at it again, do agree with you about placing them on that 3rd line - the man and manhole at this stage aren't quite off into the corner. Now luckily...
