#1 and #2 are quite plain, I dont like the disturbing branch at #2, makes not really a difference there.

#3 is best IMO, very nice moody shades and rays of sunshine.

#4 is good but lacks a little bit of touch in the shadow details, is either all gone or showing more through HDR.

#3 for me also, But I would like to have seen more of the sea ect. Which lens did you use. Maybe something wider would have been good.

Cheers

Matt,

Used the standard 18-55 that came with the camera. Probably should have gone out with the Zoom more...

Cheers,

hehe :D the DOF with the 400D is so easy to get right :D
have u found the kit lenses are great but that gap 55-70mm is a damn killer, where the 18-55 is too wide and the 70-300 is too zoomy?
its like u go to take a portrait, the zoom is like sticking the camera up there nose so u change lenses and the wide angle is like standing back 20mtrs!
/end rant  lol

The "tablet shot" is quite nice, but I think it would be improved by avoiding the OOF plant in the foreground, and getting all of the tablet sharp (the front is dropping out of focus).
You wouldn't have to stop the lens down (which would affect the background). I think just tweaking the focus closer slightly at the same aperture would do the job.

#3 and #5 are great.

#1 is a little dark but the water and sky make that minor issue go away.

but #3 is the best imo
