Yet another in my "Shameless Sydney Cliches" series..

(This was shot with that awful 70-300G so it's pretty lousy - be gentle!)

Wow Simon....this is nice...the eye contact is captivating....at first I was going to suggest cropping out the slightly out of focus paws....but then I thought 'naaaa its good as it is'....it may have a tiny yellowy tinge to it though....although don't take my word for that as I am convinced that I need to profile my monitor....

Very nice Manta. I find the reflection in the eyes a bit distracting, it kind of hides the pupils, but the sharpness is great!

Simon, as said before dont under estimate this lens i think this shot is bloody great, ok the feet are oof but that is really the only thing that i would say is a lil off putting but i can live with that but i love it.

I too have taken some great shots with this lens at times even though they are cheap, but good for the bucks.

Not bad for a wonky lens. There are still some bargains to be had when buying lenses! Personally I think the image needs to be desaturated slightly. The colours are overly rich for my tastes. Looking at the image through my wine glass I can almost sense the danger!

Wonderful image. Beautiful pose. My only niggle would be whatever it is that obscures the pupils. I agree with Matt on the "fat" colour. Maybe it's just a matter of cooling down the white balance?

Thanks folks. The reflection was the huge glass window we mere pieces of meat were looking through. I tried getting in close and cloning it out but couldn't get it to my liking. I'll have a play with the colour - all I can put it down to was the dappled lighting in the enclosure and lots of different reflected colours in there. Bugger of a place to get decent balanced shots!

Now that I've had a good night's sleep, here's a better version (hopefully):

Cool shot - what a handsome beast I prefer the second version, but the whites are appearing a bit 'blue' on my monitor ......
I'm going to have to stop using my G lens as a doorstop I think You sure as hell get some good shots out of it

Thanks Rel. I think this shot has suffered from the effects of Smugmug hosting. Original looks great on my screen but definitely cools down on the gallery page and here.

That second one is nicer in the eyes Manta, as well, they colour looks better here, looking back, the first was slightly yellow.

I think the colour temperature is much more spot on now, but I reckon the tint needs to be shifted a little from magenta to green. Not trying to be critical for the heck of it - I just think this is an image very much worth getting right.

Manta - I really like the position of the Tiger on the platform. The eyes are stll not wright. Here is a shot, most probably of the same Tiger taken last year, to illustrate the colour of the eyes for your reference:

CHeers Foz. I actually haven't done anything to the eyes. I think it was a trick of the bright sky reflecting directly off the interior of the glass wall right back at him. The pupils are extremely contracted - some around me were using flash (I wasn't) so that may have contributed as well.

Fozzie, tigers don't have blue eyes.
