Shooting at 800mm

Well it finally happened, threw a 2x converter on the 400 and this is what I got. This was actually to practice using this combo for the comet later in the day..

Great stuff Big V. Gotta be happy with those.

That tree frog has lovely detail and looks so cute (if you like frogs) tucked up on that branch.

Wow big V that is an impressive focal length. Added to the sensor crop (?) you would be shooting at 1200mm!

What aperture did the lens have to start - f/4 perhaps? Meaning widest aperture now f/8 - Is it hard to AF?

F5.6 at the 400 end, so F11..This meant manual focus but it is not too bad. I have now taped the pins on the TC and it autofocuses out to about 250mm...It is easier just to use manual.

still, for 1200mm effective :)
