Three from my Tassie Trip

Well, we just spent 6 days in Tasmania for our "mini-moon" - the real honeymoon is 4 weeks in Canada/Alaska in July. Beautiful place, Tassie. I'd always meant to go and visit.. and looks like I will definitely have to go again, as 6 days wasn't nearly enough.

I got a whole bunch of mediocre shots, but these are my favourite three.

A church in Sheffield:

Cradle Mountain - the important thing about this photo, apart from the IMO stunning late afternoon lighting, is that it was taken as I was walking AWAY from the bloody thing, having climbed to the summit earlier.

Liffey Falls:

So many beautiful things to photograph. Unfortunately some days were too hazy to get great shots, just means I'll have to keep going back ;)

For those who want to kill some time, you might consider checking out my travel diary of the week - http://blog.thesystemisdown.com/weblog.php?id=P438

It has a link to more pics from the trip :)

Wow Des, these are a bunch of very nice shots. Especially seeing that you didn't succumb to the usual temptation of over-tightening the contrast and saturation screw.

The first one has a good perspective and sky, and a very reassuring subject, too. I hope Tasmanians will not forgo their regular backups, though...

The second image sports pretty much perfectly shaping illumination of the mountain (from what I've seen so far). Very nice!

The third, well we wouldn't really call it a waterfall, but it is a gorgeous site. Nicely exposed, and very naturalistic.

Looks like you had a good time! Your mediocres would be my selects.

Cheers
Steffen.

Great shots Des. Love the lighting and framing. Colours seem very natural.

How was the weather? I spent 2 weeks in Tassie (many years ago) it was in January and the conditions changed all the time. We experienced frosts, rain, fog and heat wave conditions.

Well done.

Cheers, Mick :) :) :)

I agree, great shots. I particularly like the Cradle Mt image, lovely light. Both Cradle Mt and Liffey Falls are 2 places I intend going to visit. Only lived in the state 50 years and haven't been to either.

Don't forget the snow and bushfires in the same week.

Cheers
John
