And I thought getting my kids to pose was hard! Despite spending a half-hour or so getting to know "Julie" and letting her get to know me (and my equipment) she still just pretty much did her own thing. My friend is selling her and she wanted a few photos for the ads and also as keepsakes. I've never photographed horses before, in such close proximity, and I dare say it'll be a while before the opportunity arises again. Must admit - I did fall in love with this little mare. All shot with the 18-70mm and SB800 for fill. C&C appreciated.

Thanks Chris, it's my fave too. (Out of this lot anyway - I've got a stack of others I haven't even looked at yet.) I'm thinking I might ditch that silly keyline frame and do something more arty - broad brush strokes or something like that?

No.4 for me too, although if I had to be picky I would have had the hand facing up rather then down.

I think she will miss her severely. The photos will be a treasure, I'm sure, but also tug at the heart.

Nice images nonetheless, and it's good to see that you're breaking all of the rules ... you know, about working with kids, animals ....

Simon - that last image is a classic - the best of these by far. Simple clean lines - no distractions in the background and lovely and sharp

It is certainly in better condidion than those I have seen of late.
I like the gentleness implied by #4.
