I'm not very happy with night one of my comet adventure. Hopefully tomorrow night will be better. (D2H is not a good camera for astrophotography. It's way too noisey)

Both images with Nikon D2H and 500mm F8 mirror lens. (Click the image for a larger view)

Steve, dont worry - just keep getting out there and looking and shooting it. It is a wonderful experience to see history happening. Try and expose longer, this will help with your signal to noise ration and give you better results. At least you can see it, we have had 2 days of non stop rain - I am getting withdrawal symptoms and frustrated at the opportunity of a life time to make a special photo and mother nature is kicking me in the
nuts..

Yep, figures doesn't it. Just when you don't want clouds and rain, what happens?

Same thing happened to me during the transit of Venus, although i did eventually get some images of that but it was mostly due to driving around searching for open spots of the sun through the clouds and stopping at the side of a busy road to get the camera, tripod and sun-filter out :) People thought i was crazy. :)
