We just got back from Noosa and had a really really good time. I annoyed my wife a fair bit however, by spending a couple of hours most afternoons, sitting at the point with my tripod, camera and 75-300 lens, clicking shots of waves and surfers.

This guy reminded me of Laird Hamilton, and Jack Johnsons Surf Movies.

I haven't played with curves or anything, just converted to jpeg, resized them a bit and uploaded them to flickr.

Any thoughts? (apart from staightening that Horizon in the first 2 shots  )

haha, nice shots looks like hes loving it!

All he needs now is a dog on the back of the board, hang ten over the front and id say its a scene straight out of 'the endless summer'! :)

haha, so true.

I was surprised by the amount of Longboard Riders in Noosa. I'm so used to Cronulla and the Northern Beaches, where Shortboards and Bodyboarders dominate the lineup. But up there, it's all longboards and mini mals. Nice relaxed vibe, rather than agro ...

Possibly because of the tiny waves on offer. More fun riding a long board when its small.

Great shots, they really encapsulates the feel of this type of surfing.
I love seeing these guys out in the surf, they always seem to be having so much fun. Perhaps it because they can pick up waves from much father out than everyone else, they certainly get their fair share of waves when they surf.

Sure does, I though exactly the same thing. :D

Watego's Beach, Cape byron is exactly the same. :D

I would have liked to see them with just a little more forground, so there is a little more water between the bottom of the frame and the surfboard. But that's just me.

The half surfer on the right in the second one is a bit distracting, would be pretty hard to clone out. If you have croped this one, perhaps a re-crop to include all of the surfer might improve it. But hey, I realise you can't control where the others surfers are when you take your shot.

Nice series.
