I really have to get out more with my macro lens. After the rain today, I saw these nice frangipani flowers in the back lane. I had to get the camera out :D

Image

Taken with D200, tamron 90mm at f22, on tripod. Click image for larger version. This is full frame, re-sized for web, bit of sharpening

C&C welcome,

cheers,

André

Andre,

I like what you've done with this.

I've come back a couple of times to this image, and can't quite put a finger on what makes it.

The way you've composed it works well - normally I'd be looking at the lines of the image (petal edges) which draw out to the right, and out of the image... but this is prevented by the placement of the water droplets, which seem to hold the eye in the centre of the frame.

The colour and DOF also works with the image - the colour range is simple, complementing the subject, and you've isolated that subject well with good DOF usage. The OOF highlights / bokeh is also pleasing.

Well, thats what I reckon anyway :)

Andre - I can't add anything that daniel hasn't already said (and very eloquently too I might add) .....

Thanks everyone for the nice comments,

Daniel, I was also not sure on the lines leading out of the image, even tried rotating, etc, but that didn't quite work. In the end, I liked it the way I had taken it, thanks for confirming this :D

I will print this one, I'm getting a new Epson printer soon, so I'll get it printed big,

Cheers,

André
