We have been fostering a guide dog puppy for the last 12 months. On Tuesday, she goes back to Guide Dogs NSW to start her training. It's not easy to give them up just when they get to be really good. Just thought I'd share a few photos, one from yesterday in the backyard, a couple from the beach this morning.

Her name is Candy, she is a 14 months old Golden Retriever.

We've done it once before a few years back, as I said, not easy to give them up. In the end it's for a great cause. They either become a guide dog or a pets as therapy if they don't make it as a guide dog. Only 50% of dogs make it as a guide dog. The first one made it as a guide dog, not sure if Candy will. She is a great dog but she is not too keen on big trucks, buses, trains.

Cheers,

André

She is just beautiful

I'm a sucker for retrievers - Labs or golden. They have such wonderful personalities, and they are a breed that epitomises everthing that is good about dogs.

Beautiful dog shots!! :)
I agree with Gary - retrievers aren't only highly intelligent but they are loving and affectionate as well - great pets! Thanks for sharing Radar!

radar - you are doing a great thing for society by fostering a guide dog puppy. I know that I would find it extremely hard to give her back: she is so cute, as illustrated by your great shoots.

For a number of years now I have been cross-breeding Golden Labradors with Rotweillers. There's a whole new generation of kids in for a big suprise.

thanks for the comments guys, she is a lovely dog, always full of mischief but she is still a pup really.

Matt, I've seen a cross between a Rottweiler and a Newfoundland, it is actually scared of its shadow

cheers,

André

Lovely pics André. You're a braver man than I am. I would never be able to let her go. Good on you - it is a noble cause but one that I could not do.

Cheers, Mick :) :) :)
