Picked up a hoya r72 the other day. Haven't had a chance to give it a real play. Here is a quick shot outside my front door this morning. Filter was applied on a 50mm 1.7 Pentax M. Hard to compose and focus manually when no visible light comes through the viewfinder!

Not bad!

Did you shoot in RAW? Your processed version has quite a bit of noise in the sky.
You might already be doing it, but you'll get better quality by shooting in RAW, adjusting the WB to an extreme where the tree is fairly neutral, and THEN applying false-colour actions. I can get an interesting image by processing your red JPEG, but I'm sure it can do better in terms of quality.

Cheers! And yup, I'm shooting raw, only way to go really when doing IR :)

As for the noise, I added some film grain in to give the photo a bit of a weathered feel. I'll post a copy without noise when I get home.

Be interesting to try the conversion again with WB adjustments.

The lens I used was manual so no autofocus. However the viewfinder has a focus indicator, I had it wide open @ 1.7, dialed in the approx distance on the focus ring, then finetuned until the focus indicator lit up and hoped for the best! Shooting on a Pentax ist dl. BTW: I also applied a sepia tone to the photo.
