Hey guys just been practising with a borrowed Canon 10D. Took a few shots of my friends kid and seriously this is the best one out of like 100+ shots.

Also this is my first time using a Digital SLR. Did quite a bit of PP mostly dodging and burning areas

Below is a sepia version

She is gorgeous....and your pp work is good as its barely noticable which ideally for most portrait work is what we want...the exposure also looks spot on too...its only the posing that is letting it down...the girls arm is too high it is too dominant in the pic....and its covering a lot of her face which in itself isnt always a bad thing but as we have no eye contact it is too distracting for me...I prefer the colour version...its has a lovely warm homey feeling to it...I think your that the childs mother will b pleased with the pic though....:)

Oh..please don't think that I am being critical for the sake of it..I only mentioned these things because you posted at the bottom of your post that our comments would help you a lot....:):):)

No, no by all means. Positive/negative comments are welcome.

Constructive criticism is how I learn

Yeah the mum was really happy esp. the sepia color cause she has this thing for old photos
