Spent a couple of hours at McCauley's headland today capturing some of the action from the Coffs Hbr round of the Australasian Billabong Pro Junior titles. Great day, 4-6ft swell and some great young surfers.

Thankyou for all the kind comments, it was a sensational day, I was waiting for the pros (eg Fanning, Occi etc) to make an appearance but alas, no success. However, I make have the time to sneak down tomorrow and check out the action again at lunchtime.

Ozi.

Just thought I'd mention that these were taken with my trusty old el cheapo Tamron 70-300mm lens. For a dead cheap lens it does a pretty good job IMHO, which is a lesson for anyone new to photography: Don't worry too much about the gear, just go out and start taking photos with what you have. Better stop raving...

:)

I love them Max. There is very little water, where I live and they cool me down just looking at them. How can you take them, without getting wet? Maybe you do. :)

Great shots, awesome spray of the waves and board riders, brings back great memories for me aswell.

Great photos for a 70 - 300mm tamron lens, nice colour and depth of field

Thanks Mark, yeah I think you're right, #2,3 are the best, I found the actual surfer yesterday and gave him a business card, hopefully he'll order some enlargements! Cheers.
