I was using this shot to practise my false colour processing this afternoon.



Still can't seem to work out how Adam got that pale blue sky in this post here.

Mine always ends up much darker. Any tips?

Adam was using an IR converted camera - maybe that’s the answer

no tips here, but it is an awesome shot! i'd love to have a play around with IR, i wouldnt worry too much about the darker blue skies, because it makes the image much more contrasty with those whites

Hmmm... perhaps it's also something to do with the time of day. I took this shot at around 2pm and the light was very harsh.

For the first image, after levels and swapping the red & blue, I adjusted the curve and hue a bit.
May I ask what steps you used for this one?

As for the time, the shot was taking just before 6pm Perth time

shot this one in RAW using incandescent WB. In Camera RAW set a cool white balance and tint to -40. Opened in CS3 and used DaveB's action (thanks, Dave!). Further adjustments in curves (especially blue channel), hue/sat, and maybe levels.... I can't remember.

I found it very easy to go too far with curves... took me a while to get something I was happy with.
