Solar UFO

A couple of weeks back I was bored, so I pointed my camera at the sun and rattled off a couple of shots (as anyone would. If something were to happen to my DSLR I'd have to buy a new DSLR, a better one, so there's limited downside).

I took a look at one of the shots a little later and cropped:

.... and noticed something on the bottom left which I zoomed/cropped in to further:

I'm guessing it's not a satellite because my zoom isn't THAT good. It's a weird shape for a cloud, though. So since I can't identify it, I'm calling it a UFO. And the fact that my last 'UFO' was a blimp http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?t=20432&highlight= shouldn't invalidate this one!

C&C welcome 8) (I was wearing sunglasses at the time)

Aren't dust bunnies usually black? or dark anyway.

Indeed, if you're referring to "sensor dust". Such dust is close to being in focus because it's close to the sensor, and dark because it casts a shadow.

Notice in this case that the object is brighter than that surrounding it. This is not possible for "sensor dust", as that part of the image would be the only thing illuminating the dust (I'm assuming that the aperture here was small). Unless there was a fault in the camera and some light was being reflected onto the sensor from a different angle (you'd notice the lack of contrast in lots of shots if that was happening).

In general, the only other place on object can be in focus is out near the subject. Anything in between will be very OOF, unless it's a set of freak reflections that happen to be focussed on the sensor.

Maybe it was this little buggers craft (taken on a wall in St Peters). The one at the end of the line up...lol
