Taronga Zoo Mar 07 - Lions

It's always tough to get the tigers and lions at Taronga - you need to shoot through glass, and you had to be pretty lucky to even get them doing anything interesting.

I went with a bit of a theme with these two shots - trying to get both the lioness (who was moving around and at least doing something) and the lion (who was content to sit in the background on his arse, probably wondering where the remote was) in the same frame.

I got a couple of good 'uns - what do you think?

These are great! They are nice and sharp considering you had to shoot through glass. Did you have to get rid of many smudges or was the grass clear. I really like the second one as the male isn't cut off and the female is looking towards the camera.

Thanks Marvin :)

Some parts of the glass were either smudged or heavily scratched. I simply avoided those areas!

You do have to get up nice and close to the glass though, to stop reflections and suchlike. Thank christ for the 70-200's rubber front bumper :D :D

Second one is the winner, I've got tickets to the Zoo, but we still haven't gone and visited.. (and I've been wanting to go since I got the D70).
