Taronga Zoo Mar 07 - Tough Lighting Conditions

As anyone who is a frequent visitor to our country's lovely zoos will know, the shooting conditions are quite tough. If you're not trying to shoot through netting, wires, fences or glass, the animals are usually sitting in the furthest corner of the enclosure, either in very dark spots... or something ever worse, half in shade, half in bright sunlight.
These are a couple of shots that I'm not too displeased with, considering the conditions.
The shot of the red panda, I'm quite happy with. They are normally up in a tree, hiding behind branches and whatnot. Quite a bright background, but I managed to pull it back a touch.
The shot of the fishing cat on the other hand, was a toughie. Shot through glass, with a VERY bright background. WB has been tweaked - it was quite cool to begin with.
I think I might have to invest in a better beamer before my trip to Alaska in July this year. Sometimes you DON'T have time to stuff around with your settings before the subject disappears, so it might be best to just blast EVERYTHING with a judicious amount of flash
I lost quite a number of shots due to blur and/or DOF issues.
