Not the most technically appealing portraits, but nevertheless here is a couple of emotive portraits of my son.

Not sure whether the colour or b&w works better here.

Thanks for looking

Terrible twos? I like the first one in colour! So emotive.

Not sure but perhaps the WB is off on the second or is it just the reflection from the play equipment? Typical reaction though, "What are you doing?"

Lovely shots!

They are great!

I prefer the last one. It shows the boy has an attitude and besides the shapes and colours work well. You are lucky to have such a clever and good looking boy!

very nice expression on the first one Alex, but next time maybe try to get down to your son's level and shoot at eye level or lower. From the higher angle, you can't see the emotion as much. It's a tough challenge to get down low and try and chase a kid and photograph them, but the challenge is there to make the end result worth it ;)

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

Brett - the orange cast comes from the playground equipment which is orange. I find it a bit annoying also, but I didn't like the look when I did B&W conversion on that one - so decided to leave it.

Wayne - fair comment, however I consider myself lucky getting that shot I had a split second to bring the camera to my eye and squeeze the shutter, bending down would see me miss the shot. Photography is made up of compromises :).

Cheers
Alex

You have a very photogenic little lad here, the first shot is a classic. Does he not like his photo being taken? Have you deprived him of an ice cream? Is he mad with his sister/brother? Whatever the case, it is a wonderful, both versions are very appealing and remind me of our second son.... :)

Hey Max.

Thanks. In the first shot he was insisting that his mum returned to playground to play with him :-).

I feel somewhat embrassed that I didn't know you had a kid Alex, I'm surprised as we have seen plenty of shots of the wife, but as AFAICR we haven't seen the little fella before. And he's obviously not a new addition

Great expression in the first, and in the third.. the colours appear a little off (disclaimer, uncalibrated LCD)/

Don't you realise they just pop out that size fully clothed down here in the south :)

Katie would love that, I assume the pop is painfree.

LOL Craig. Yeah he's 2.5 now. I think I posted a few photos of him a year ago or so :-)

Cheers
