Went down to Caloundra where the champiuonships are being held
Whilst the wind wasn't ideal earlier in the afternoon it did pick up a bit later and I was able to fill a 2gb card no problems.

The light was a bit harsh and I needed to do a little bit of work in Capture NX before finishing with a bit of PP in CS2

Welcome some feedback

All great images Bob - very nicely cropped/composed! I particularly like 2 and 4 here. This is a sport I have always wanted to have a go at too! Well done! The facial expressions add to the brilliance of these images.

Yep! Thanks for the comments Shaunus and Geoff.

I am starting to get the hang of this action stuff and will keep trying to improve.

Mind you there are a lot that get the flick - thank God (or Huey if that's your preference) for digital.

Bob, fantastic work there.
Can I ask what camera and lens you are using for these photos?

Cheers

Tim,
Thanks for asking
I am using a Nikon D2X with the firmware upgrade that came out when the D2Xs was released.
For this shot I used a prime 300 VR 2.8 lens mounted on the new full Wimberley Head and a Gitzo 1548 Carbon tripod.

The last two shots are cropped probably 50%-60% but the tiffs are still more than adequate for any sized print.

The D2 series is excellent for Action shots when their is plenty of light but noise can be a pain in the butt at high ISO. (jealous of Canon performance in that area) -- Maybe the Nikon D3 will catch up or even surpass Canon - we can only hope.

All great shots Bob. #3 and #4 are my picks too. Sharp shots with lovely DOF and vivid colours.

Well done.

Cheers, Mick :) :) :)

Craig,

That's right "VR turned to off" and kept up the shutter speed as much as possible.
