Its been awhile since I posted any images.

Here is one I took over the weekend after a photoshoot that the wife and I went for, since she was all dolled up, she was more than happy to pose for me.

Image

While she loves it, she wants a virtual tummy tuck, but seeing that I dont know how to achieve this in PS any tips welcome.

C&C welcome, but please be gentle as it took me ages to get permission to upload this image.

Mak - nice photo. I would look at cloning out the right and left shadows on your wifes tummy for starters and see how it looks. Always work on a duplicate copy so you still have the original :)

A fast way
copy the layer

menu: Filters>Liquify > > Pinch (left side of dialog box, looks like a pincushion)

make brush about size of skin area, and just a few clicks, then move to side, and click piece by piece.

Take care to position the crosshairs central to the skin area.

More advanced way, select the area, use Edit>Free Transform. - then move selection to desired outcome.

Another option is to use Edit > Transform > Distort (perspective?).

Thanks Chris and Oz, will have a play when I get home.

A quick blurb on the setup, I used a white sheet as the background and any white cloth I could find to cover up the brown carpet. Then went to PS and played with curves and increased the highlight values so that the background turned to white.

Since I was aiming for a high-key photo, can anyone critique my technique (its ok to be brutal) or is there something I should/shouldnt have done??

Cheers
Mak

I have a crappy monitor at work, so take my comments with a grain of salt.

The lighting looks good, although it looks like you have cloned the background to get the even white, especially around her feet? To me, it looks a little unnatural. Now, if this isn't the case, I will go to the optometrist this afternoon

guilty!!! since I had to use bits and pieces of white cloth from around the house sine the white sheet wasnt big enough, I did a bit of cloning around the feet

Nice image. A high key image is more than just a white background. It generally refers to an image that has no, or very few dark tones at all, such as a white dove on a white tablecloth. It also demands very specfic exposure compensation and processing. Can I suggest you try again, with your wife dressed in white, white gloves and perhaps a white umbrella as a prop. Try overexposing the image by a stop or two (bracket your exposures), and see what turns up.

Thanks Matt for the feedback. I will have another go at the high-key technique!!
