Shot over Neutral Bay today - the brand new Globemaster still in USAF config. It was being chased by a plane photographing it over the city.

Not a great photo as it was taken through Alien Skin Blowup and then Noise Ninja.

Interesting looking plane Chris. What kind of purpose is it designed for? (With the name being globe master, I'm guessing it's for long flights?)

Strategic airlift for troops and cargo - smaller than a C5 Galaxy and larger than a C141 Starlifter - its able to operate from short or poor condition runways

Well caught Chris, I thought you had been to Avalon.

Thanks Norbert, and welcome to the forum

Thanks Glen

Re the C17, you'll probably see more of them, as they are based out of Richmond RAAF base. The one captured looks like the first one that was delivered - as shown here: http://www.aviationnews.com.au/News_Sto ... 72-C17.htm
For those accustomed to the size of the Hercules operating out of Richmond, these have 4x the carrying capacity.

Actually it is a USAF bird, not intending to be one of ours (its based at Hickham, Hawaii). Was at Avalon for the airshow last weekend. As for where you captured it, I was told the yanks wanted to go for a scenic flight over Sydney, something yank aircrews do often

Be careful Chris, you'll have someone knocking at your door soon asking your intentions photographing an American Air Force plane...

It made a few passes with the chase plane and then it was replaced by a Hercules being chased too - maybe some form of airforce PR work 8)
