Fozzie, one has great composition and colours. Very nice, could be a tad sharper but you take what you can get at such shows. I could see that as a book cover

Glen - what I have learnt from this Airshow and at my time in life, it is best to have a Tripod with Full Gimbal or equivalent and a long prime, preferably f/2.8. My Nikkor 300mm f/4 with TC-14EII would have been better served if it was a clear blue sky on the day. Unfortunately you can not order the weather. Next time I will take more time off from work and go on 2 days to get the right conditions. Better still, will have purchased a longer fast prime.

However, there seems to be a bit of noise in the pics, or am I just seeing things?

No 1 is great, but for me, the Globemaster shot is superb - can't explain why, but the comp really brings out the size of the aircraft! Well done.

cordy - I personally think it is a combination of issues, some noise and not totally sharp from the start. I just liked the composition of the shot and thought I would share it with other members on the board. As mentioned before, I found the light on Saturday to be very hard to work with, together with the speed of some aircraft.

As to be being picky, not a problem, it is still a free country to voice your opinion.

I must admit I was somewhat selective in when I shot at the airshow as well, very difficult conditions on the saturday to not only shoot but keep your gear dry. Wish I had something like your setup with the 300mm + TC, I found 300mm was just not long enough for a lot of the shots I was attempting

Cheers for that, I realise some people may be sensitive to that sort of criticsm!
