Tree Spirit

I took this picture a couple of hours ago with my new 17-55mm lens. I hope you like it. Canon 30D, shutter speed is 1/125, aperture
F/7.1, focal length 55 mm, ISO-100, apeture priority.

Sorry to be picky, but the limit is 800 pix on the longest side and 250kB. 970-ish high and 750kB is overkill. I'm not powering up my desktop to see it all at once, sorry.

I think it would look better a little cropped to show more mask and less tree.

I heard that the trees have ears, but your experiment is a whole new dimension.

Interesting image. To me, it's just too much of a contrast between the mask and the tree.

The mask is pure white and because of this I would think it would be very difficult to get perspective on the mask. I think your lens has done a good job of this.

The tree bark looks wonderfully detailed.

I'm looking forward to seeing more photographs taken with this lens!

Moz is quite correct in his comments.

There is no reason, nor any need, for this image to have not simply the oversize dimensions, but the level of quality that you uploaded this with, within the context of displaying images within this forum.

The problem is that you make it very difficult for some people to see your image - those with smaller monitors, and those with slower connections, for instance.

Please review your settings when you save the image prior to uploading, and then review the file: if the file size is anything greater than about 150KB, then you've probably got something wrong.


As to the image ... Graham's comments regarding the level of difficulty of making this shot are quite correct, but I don't really see a context for this image, and thus it does nothing for me.

You've nailed the exposure, it's pin sharp, but it doesn't tell me anything. What am I missing?

My most humble apologies. The previous image was meant for printing and consequently it was not meant for this forum. Please excuse my oversight for not checking its size and dimensions. I guess the image itself is quite simplistic in its conception and I take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time and trouble to give your opinions.
