im always experimenting for a more art directed image for upcoming fashion editorial submissions
in this set i'm working on tone colour and mood
i use photoshop to pre-visualise, then when im happy with the result i can formulate how to duplicate the mood in a studio environment

While I'm still not a fan of the whole fashion-cropping of the head, that last one does it for me. I'd even be tempted to clone out or lessen the impact of the red light in the right corner area so it's not as distracting and you're forced to look at her.

i understand the issue with tight crops mid forehead
the way i see it it's just a technique i use to give it a slightly more intimate feel
as for the red light yes it is distracting if i were to shoot that outdoors i would like that to be a red stoplight or something with colour id shoot wide aperture and get that light blured by the differential focus, it's only a concept
but thanks for your discerning observations

Awesome , great mood and they look like they are straight out of Vogue.....i have a shoot comming up soon for a submision similar to these and aimed at fashion magazines with a 16 year old "Supermodel" in the making - already gracing various covers - i couldnt believe that this girl was 16).....(NOT bikini girl crap - as fashion is what i would love to do) any advice?

congratulations man
when it comes to fashion shoots
fashion mags only consider shoots where the fashion is relevant to the buying season no old clothes(fashion stylists job)
after all the art directed stuff the main aim is to sell the clothes featured in the published issue
its not about the model unless of course your shooting a portrait seris of the model for editorial
most of the time too they prefer really polished images with a clear and consistent style quite art directed, a concept and narrative
but its best to check directly with the magazine and find out exactly what they want even if its on a submission basis
but hey if the model is famous editors can be swayed by that too so if shes the new face of the seaon
but in the end fashion first and the set has to look pretty darn good
