Probably not the greatest pics, but they do tell the dance and hard to capture frames from the light and bright shirts they are wearing. :)

Next time your attending another dance performance, try a slower shutter speed to capture some movement. Since the subject is all about moving I think it would really help your next set of photos come to life.
Also if possible try different angles and maybe turn off the flash and see what kind of atmosphere you can capture

thanks for the tips, really appreciate it, i did try slower shutter speeds, but it just didnt work, my hands were too wobbly, if only i had a tripod, it would have made things easier.

That particular event has all of the elements that create a photographers nightmare! Poor lighting...highly reflective jackets and shoes but black pants. You did pretty good considering. How would Ihave handled it? I think I would have walked away. Flash would lightup those jackets and blow the shoes. The background is too fussy but there's nothing to be done about that....(perhaps shooting at F2.8 would have helped a little) and the venue just sucks for light. Sometimes we do our very best with a poor bagfull. You got the images and that's always the main thing! :D :D
Sometimes we walk into a venue and everything works for us. We can do no wrong and still get stunning images. At other times no amount of skill will create a masterful image. Photographers love control but if the venue denies you that then use every trick you have in the knowledge that the images will still be fairly ordinary. You done pretty good.
