Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

I like it, but I'm not 100% sold on the crop.. the crop is so tight most major elements lead out of the shot for me.

For example, the shadow runs out of shot, as does the upright that makes the shadow (out of shot in 2 directions.) also the bottom edge of the dial isn't included.

All that said I do like the concentric circles of the dial, it lends a certain repetition to the shot.

I tend to agree with craig, however I think if you crop in a tad from the right, just enough to remove the light top right corner and have the shadow go to the edge of the image it removes the vertical line out of the image, and makes the shadow more of a divider than a path out of the image.

Just looking at the shot in the topic review it has it's top cut off down to the shadow, that actually works as well as a real detail shot. In any case Id have a tinker with some crops to make the image stronger.

Cheers.

agree with Craig and Dawesy. I would clone out or darken the small amount of bird shit that's white... .. Just being picky.. otherwise I quite like the shot although not strong enough on it's own, could easily be part of a photo essay..
