Well, now that number one daughter is on the way to recovery, I was able to escape for few hours this afternoon to partake in a portrait shoot organised by the Brisbane Camera Group.

I'm really out of my comfort zone when it comes to portraits so be gentle!
Incidentally, if anyone was questioning the abilities of the Tamron 90mm Macro as a portrait lens, rest assured it's nice and sharp and gives silky bokeh.

Simon - nice to see u around here again.
erm...what's not to like about these portraits?
the only suggestion I'd make or like to see (and I'm being a bit nit picky) is more even light distribution on her face in image one. How much PP did u do to these? Her eyes look possbily over sharpened in the first one too.

Hey Simon, (I hope daughter 1 is ok??)

I liked the first shot, scrolled down, and #2 I like even better, great use of light, the rim lighting is drop dead sexy.. perhaps a reflector to just bring a little light and warmth to her from the right side may of helped ?

Hi Simon
I like the broken light on the first shot. I think you've controlled the density of those shadows beautifully. I love the second shot except I think the direction of her gaze leads the viewers eye out of the image space. It might have been a better shot if she was looking directly at the lens. Nice bokeh on that Tamron. Those 90mms make great portrait lenses!
