a shot of my girlfriend from a couple of months ago, was bored today and decided to do some pp on it. any tips on how this shot can be improved? both pp wise and shot wise?

She seems very aware of the camera. When taking shots like that I like to engage the subject, make them forget the camera is there.

Try shooting again, this time make some jokes, get her talking and just capture what happens. Then go back and compare what difference it makes.

the flash has caused a highlight (bright area) over her right eyebrow which is a tad distracting, also I would clone out the white roof (?) in the background)

She is beautiful and young, you should try to 'extract' some of these youth and emotion power out of this beautiful young lady. As said above, make her feel comfortable and interactive with you, not with the camera. She seems a little stiff on this one, maybe try getting her relaxed first.

Start next shoot with headshots first, having her sitting down, relaxed. Then when she is having some more comfort with things, move away for shoulder length and then later until 3/4 and full body, it will help her get over the camera and be more interactive with the photographer.

thanks for the tips umm im just using the built in flash atm, im thinking about getting either a 430ex or a 580ex. not too sure which one to settle on.
