Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Just a roughie.

This is cam perched on a shelf, no way to compose or set up, pointed towards me, and let the self-timer go.

Straight out of the camera, no pp; just resized for display.

Theres something to like here, and no, it's not the subject

I like that the focal length accentuates the cramped studio space, wrapping it around you. I don't think that any flash would have assisted inmaking a better image, as it would have thrown harsh shadows you don't want. Maybe a small lamp somewhere to throw some more ambient light?

Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your day (or night) :D

Almost missed this one. Like Raskill, I like the way the short focal length gives the studio that wrap around feel

Keith,

I was wondering how long it would take for people to notice. There's two new toys there ... :)

D200 the other toy?

Sigma? I didn't think it was possible! Good thing the Sigma chairman is too much of a gentleman to say I told you so.

Glen,

Yep.

Both arrived on Friday last. Haven't yet had a real chance to put them through their paces.

Initial thought s ... probably off topic for here, save to say that together they make a somewhat impressive piece of kit.

I'll probably start a new thread later today or early tomorrow, as I intned to be shooting at a jam tonight ...

Nice setup :) Gotta love distortion towards the edges - makes it look like you're caught in some time distortion field.

Gary, nice work, and a good depiction of the studio environment.

I really love the Sigma 10-20 on the D200, it is a beautiful pairing.

And yes, you with a sigma is a turn up, no doubt about it. But I think you will be well pleased.

Wayne,

Yes on the distortion. With FF, my 24mm was my very favourite lens for pretty much that reason. Even though I'd often need as much reach as I could get (hence I have an old 300mm) I just love what a WA lens does to an image.

I've missed that on digital, even with the various kit lenes ... not the same.

For those who've not yet noticed, this was shot @ ISO1600, fluro lighting, I think about 1/15@f/8. The EXIF is there anyway ...

Somewat difficult conditions, especially regarding composition and focus, neither of which were actually something I could control.

So for my first shots i anger with the new toys, I am happy.
