Couple on the beach

Last week I went on a photographic outing organised by the Brisbane Camera Club to the The Spit on the Gold Goast. I took there my first pictures of professional models. I found it difficult to compete with other club members to get some room to take pictures of people I don't know and listen the silly and some time rude comments of passers-by, but I guess it is all part of learning.



Canon 30D, Raw format, Shutter Speed 1/250sec, Aperture F/5.6, Focal length 100 mm. ISO-200, Aperture Priority, 28 - 135 mm. Canon Lens, No tripod.

While the subject matter seems to be easy on the eye, I'd like to have seen this one composed with less of the sand in UL corner, and somehow more of the people.

Not quite sure how that could have been accomplished, and were this for, say, a product shoot where you needed to leave space for text or something, that space certainly would do that jobv adequately.

Thank you for your constructive comments, Gary. To tell you the truth, I was quite surprise to see how the subjects came out. There were at least 10 or 15 photographers strugling to get a photo of the couple and when one moved another jostled in. In some pictures I had lenses or shadows showing; while in another the grass went up the nose or one of the eyes of the models. I tell you, it was quite an experience. I guess I have to learn how to construct the picture in my head and then look for the suitable angle. I guess it is all part of the learning.

Experience is how we learn and you have learned heaps doing this shoot. I can only agree with Gary's comments about the composition but the rest of the photo is good. The white-balance, colour, focus and exposure are good.

I agree with the other comments, a vertical format would have probably done it.

Thanks for the comments guys. The picture of the couple I liked is the one below, but after removing the blade of grass from the girl's face it doesn't appear convincing.
