Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Just to bore you with two more pics from NZ last year.

The first was taken on the drive to Queenstown - this was near one of the main ski fields, but I forget the name.

Nikon D200
Lens: 17-35mm F/2.8 D
Focal Length: 35mm
Exposure Mode: Manual
Metering Mode: Multi-Pattern
1/4000 sec - F/5 - I don't recall if the shallow DOF was deliberate or not, but I don't mind the effect.

#1 is great Patrick. Not so sure about #2. I think the problem is the eye follows the pier to the edge of the image thus leading you out of the shot rather than in. The colour one is quite orange, but it looks intentional unlike the other shots you had with a decided yellow cast.

Interestingly when we were there in February this year the same location was quite green.

Colour in the first one is sweet. Also like the DOF...different effect for landscape.

The 2nd is lacking in something...I think stubsy might be right in saying the pier draws your eye away from shot. Also not sure the B&W treatment suits it...The sky lacks punch.

I quite like the first one as well. To me, it looks like the pass you have to go through from Wanaka to Queenstown, along the Crown Range Rd.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I agree with the comments about the second one - given the pier provides the perfect opportunity for a leading line, I don't think I captured one shot out of many which used it to appropriate effect.

Andre, you are spot on with the location - it is just before the very, very windy road leading down to the [insert correct name starting with Arrow here] area before Queenstown. The orange colour was boosted a bit, but it was totally void of greenery.

The colours and the shallow DOF on the first one are really good. Have the colours of the foreground been enhanced particularly through post processing?

i really like the first one, but feel that it's a tad oversaturated (literally the yellow is just a bit oversaturated). Reason why I say this is I love the DOF but the yellow is really clashing with the DOF so I don't know which one should be more dominant. Personally I'd go for the DOF since it's a lot cooler :)
