Songkran I

Songkran is a Thai new year festival which is celebrated every year 11-18 of April all over the country. The celebrations are particularly intense in Chiang Mai. The celebration is well know for water throwing every where. No one is safe, unless you are locked inside. It's a surreal experience, I have no other description for it. It is amazing fun. Lots of happy drunks also.

Here are a few selected photos from the festival. I didn't want to spend $600 for protective gear for my D70, so I just took a few snaps throguh the car windscreen while driving along amongst this madness. So these are not so much for critique due to snappish quality, just wanted to share.

Looks like a July carnival there :D

Reminds me of the Latin carnivals which was way too crazy. Great captures btw :)

These are among my favourites of the shots you have posted from Thailand so far. I've been to Thailand during Songkran...ah the memories. :)

I think you could push the contrast a little bit in #2 and #3.

In #1, if you look hard there are some quite cool clouds in the sky as well - perhaps consider some curves work on the sky to bring the exposure down and the contrast up. It's a cool shot as is, but this might just improve it that little bit more.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions every one.

Macka - thanks for the recommendations. Songkran is a surreal experience, no doubt.

Cheers
