With the flash bounced off the ceiling you can sometimes create bags under the person's (or in this case dog's) eyes. Also in #2 the eyes are in shadow because the dog is looking down and the light is coming from above. If you have a reflector or even a white sheet of paper under the face you can combat this.

Nevertheless, #2 is quite a cute shot. In #1, the OOF sofa is a bit distracting, and in #3 I wonder why you didn't point the camera down a little to get the feet in shot since there is space above the dog's head. So #2 for me. :)

If the 580EX have a bounce card built into it, just pull it out and you can use that to reflect some light back into your subject's face to kill off those 'bags'. If not, a simple rubber band and a white card should do the job :P

For me #2 does the job here :D

yeah it does have a card for catchlight, but i was shooting vertically, so it would have bounced off some where else, hehe, i should try that rubber with card solution next time. thanks yi-p!

Before you buy a lightsphere, take a look at this first. Build a DIY bounce card and see the results yourself, before spitting the $100+ for a plastic bowl.

Its a pretty cheap alternative to get 'a better bounce card'.
