Took the trip south today to get baked in the sun! My first airshow since Richmond 1975, and I really enjoyed it. I was surprised at how many people turned up.
With my measly 70-300 G lens I found getting decent shots in planes in the air difficult, so here's my take on the earthbound hardware:
The Super Constellation tends to blow a bit of smoke when the engines are started:

I really like the B&W images, both of them. 'The business end of the Hornet being the pick of the bunch.' The Connie certainly did blow a lot of smoke. It was windy standing behind it too.

I love the first one, it makes Connie look very much like a ghost ship.

Frank, #1 and #2 are really nice images!
I would have liked the third shot to have been framed a little lower to see all of the jet exhaust - but this is also a good shot.
Well done.
Cheers, Mick

I love the feel of #1, it would have been better if there hadn't been quite as many people in the frame but it really has a period feel to it.

From memory, it was almost a grab shot, as there were so many people moving between me and the aircraft. But I agree, the whole of the exhausts would have been better.

Hi Frank,
didn't we get saturated in smoke when the props were started
Great images - love them.

I like the PP done on number 1. Even with the people in the foreground, there is nothing "ultra modern", which says "taken in 2007". It looks like it could have been taken years ago, or in an Indiana Jones movie (set in the 50's etc)
I like the nose of the hornet poking over the crowd in #4. Good DOF
