Hey,

I havent posted in a while as i havent been able to take photos due physical limitations, but we will leave it there, no need to tell you my life story.

However my wife is 35 weeks pregnant now (34 weeks pregnant in this picture). My goal was to get something that would look great printed (big) and that we were both proud of and not ashamed to show off.

here is the result. a big thanks goes to my wifes step dad for providing the lighting.

A strobe pointed at her almost from side on and a backlight to give some definiton to her back.

Shot was taken with
Canon 350D
18-55 Kit lense (45mm)
F11
1/250
Manual

C&C is always reccomended.

poompy,

That is an excellent image and really shows off the "moment". Lighting is excellent.

What is most important is what you and your wife think of it as the image is for you guys.

You both should be justifiably proud of this shot. The rim lighting on your wife's back makes the image really sing. And thanks to the two of you for being comfortable enough to share this image.

thanks for the comments guys,
the image means a lot to my wife and i as it is our first born, so we are both very excited and proud of the image.

i really felt nervous coming into the photoshoot as i had never used any sort of lighting except for a flash other than the onboard.

we are planning on getting it printer at 40x50cm just need to find a place that will do it.

This is a truely impressive image, I love the lighting.

I'm impress by the sharpness as well given the lens you used.

Hey,

Great timing. Despite shooting hundreds of models from fashion, nudes through to fetish / alternative we have never done a "mother in waiting" shoot. We'll tomorrow night we have out first and I drew inspiration from your post so many thanks for sharing this with us.

Thanks,

Mark

If you can't find something up near you, Just Photos in Mortdale (Chris Bennett - 9570.3336) will do it & send it back to you. They are excellent.

Another recommendation for Chris at Just Photos, we do our printing there and enjoy the extra level of service and quality of the prints.

Poompy - a sensational shot!
I'm a bit late commenting on this image and feel I would only be repeating what has already been said.

As far as printing on the Northern Beaches.

http://www.c41express.com.au/ have a good reputation.

Fantastic lighting (I've become addicted to Strobist recently, and this is textbook stuff), crystal clear, very discreetly and tastefully posed, and an evocative image. Well done all round.

A strong, dramatic image! If you get the time try a high key image! I would love to see what you can produce at the other end of the tonal scale.

thanks everyone for the encouraging comments. i have never received such a response to my photos before

i will be trying something similar with mum and baby, once the time is right. I would also like to try and get a shot of myself with the baby, sort of a series.
